Psi (Mac OSX) Install Guide
- Download Psi
- Double-click downloaded
application "psi-0.9.dmg" to open the compressed file
- Create new folder on
desktop (File menu - New Folder) and call it "Psi"
- Move the entire contents
of the opened file [COPYING, psi, and README] into the "Psi" folder on your
desktop
- Move the "Psi" folder
into Macintosh HD - Applications
- Browse to new location
of the "Psi" folder and double-click the Psi application file to bring up
the Psi profile menu
- Click the "profiles" button and then click the "new" button
- For profile name, enter "Default". For default action, select
Chat, and select the box to enable emoticons.
- Click on the "create"
button to create your profile
- You should now be taken
back to the profile menu. Make sure your created profile is selected and click
the "open" button
- For the account name,
use your udeupa username. Click the "add button" to continue.
- Make sure the Account tab is selected. For Jabber ID, type
[udeupa username]@apuim.apu.edu. Leave the other settings as they are.
- Select the Connection tab. Under Advanced, select the "Use
SSL encryption (to server)" and "Use Plaintext Login" and leave the other settings as they are.
- Select the Preferences tab. Check the "Ignore SSL warnings"
button and leave the other settings as they are.
- Click the save button
at the bottom of the window.
- To connect to the server,
go to the Psi main window. At the bottom, there is a button that is set to
"offline". Click it and select "online".
- You will then be prompted for your password. Use your udeupa password. You then can begin using the APUIM service. Please see the Documentation Page for assistance on how to use the software.
