Q: What is ICQ?
An easy-to-use online Instant Messaging program developed by Mirabilis Ltd., and since aquired by AOL. Prounounced as separate letters, so that it sounds like "i-seek-you," icq was the first IM service to gain popularity.
Q: What is the ICQ Gateway?
The ICQ Gateway provides communication with the ICQ Service. ICQ was really the first instant messaging system, which was purchased by AOL. The ICQ gateway actually shares the same transport as the AOL service because they merged protocols.
Q: What features does the gateway support?
- simple user info retrieval. May take some time, just wait...
- SMS sending (Short Message Service is a text messaging system used by phones and pagers)
send "SEND-SMS:number:text" to any ICQ user, for example
"SEND-SMS:+4917012345:Test"
Q: What features are unavailable?
- NO import of server buddy lists
- NO file transfer
- NO multichat
- NO user search
- NO incoming SMS
- NO handling of incoming auth requests (its insecure anyway)
